Clinical study of artificial femoral head replacement in treatment of senile patients with intertrochanteric fracture

    • Objective: To explore the clinical effects of artificial femoral head replacement in treatment of senile patients with intertrochanteric fracture. Methods: Thirty senile patients with intertrochanteric fracture were treated with artificial femoral head replacement, which were fixed with steel wire after fracture restoration to recover the intertrochanteric anatomy relationship by the lateral incision of hip joint. The artificial bone cement femoral head were placed and antibiotics were applied at postoperation. The hip jiont function were exercised at 1 week and began to walk at 2 weeks postoperation. Results: All surgeries were successful without death and failure cases. Fracture restoration was good and the basic life of the patients were taken care of oneself, which effective rates were of 86. 7% after a follow-up of from 12 to 24 months. Conclusions: Treatment of senile patients with intertrochanteria femoral fractures with the artificial femoral head placement can shorten the time of patients staying in bed. Early functional exercise of hip jiont can reduce complications and curative effects are reliable.
