Correlation between expression of KAI1 and epithelia-cadherin and their clinical significance

ObjectiveTo explore the expression of KAI1 and epithelia-cadherin( E-cad) in infiltrating cervical carcinoma( ICC) and their clinical significance. Methods: The expressions of KAI1 and E-cad were examined by immunohistochemistry containing 76 specimens of ICC tissues，30 specimens of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia( CIN) ，and 20 specimens of normal cervical epithelium( NCE) .Results: The positive rates of KAI1 and E-cad in ICC tissues，CIN tissues， and NCE tissue were 42.1%， 70.0%， 100% and 40.8%， 63.3%， 100.0%， respectively.There was a significant difference between the two groups( P 0.01) .The expressions of KAI1 and E-cad were significantly associated with grades of tumor， lymph node metastasis，pathological-TNM stages( P 0.05 to P 0.01) . And there was a positive relationship between KAI1 and E-cad expression( P 0.01) . Conclusions: The low or loss expression of KAI1 and E-cad may promote ICC progression，development and metastasis; the combined detection of KAI1 and E-cad has an important role in predicting the progression and prognosis of ICC.
