Abstract
Objective: To explore the relations of blood glucose with the clinicopathologic features of esophageal carcer and its effects on prognosis. Methods: One hundred sixty-three cases with esophageal carcer were divided into different group according to their clinicopathologic features. The blood glucose levels of all groups were investigated. Fifty-six survival cases were analysed. results: The fasting glucose and fructosamine levels of patients with more than 4 cm in esophageal carcer lesion length were significantly higher than those in cases with less than 4 cm in esophageal carcer lesion length(P < 0. 05) . Compared with patients with stage Ⅱesophageal carcer, the fasting glucose levels of patients with stage Ⅲ increased(P < 0. 05) . For patients with stage Ⅲand Ⅳ esophageal carcer, the survival time of cases with high glucose level were shorter than those in cases with low glucose level(P = 0. 045) . Conclusions: The level of blood glucose is related to the lesion length and stage of esophageal carcer, and which play an important role on the prognosis of middle and terminal esophageal cancer patients.
