Psychological intervention in phacoemulsification cataract surgery with ocular surface anesthesia

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effect of psychological intervention on phacoemulsification cataract surgery under ocular surface anesthesia. Methods: Fifty-nine cases with senile cataract were performed pacoemusification cataract surgery under surface anesthesia and were divided randomly into two groups: experimental group in which the psychological intervention was performed further and controlled group in which the routine nursing care was given. The process of surgery, cooperation of the patients and pain feeling were recorded and compared in these two groups. results: Seventy-two point four percent of patients went on well, 24. 1% basic smooth and 3. 14% not very well in the cataract surgery in the cataract surgery in the experimental group,and only 56. 7%,33. 3% and 10% respectively in the controlled group,however the difference was not significant(P > 0. 05) . The scores of cooperation in cataract was 4. 69 0. 47 in the experimental group,which was higher significantly in the controlled group whose score was 3. 30 1. 05(P < 0. 01) . Scores of pain feeling was 1. 66 0. 61 in the experimental group and 2. 43 0. 63 in the controlled group, the difference was significan (P < 0. 01) . Conclusions: Psychological intervention can alleviate pain feeling of patients, enhance cooperation and make the cataract surgery go further well.
