Comparison of the clinical effects of laparoscopic appendectomy and open appendectomy

Objective: To compare the clinical curative effects of laparoscopic appendectomy(LA)and open appendectomy(OA). Methods: The clinical data of 38 cases treated with LA and 47 cases treated with OA were analyzed retrospectively.Results: The operative time of two groups was not significantly different (P ＞ 0.05).Their intraoperative blood loss and time of first flatus and hospital stay were statisticaly significant (P＜0.01).Conclusions: The advantages of LA are less trauma, fast recovery and less complications.LA can detect the whole abdomen,which has distinct advantages for these patients with unclear diagnosis or complications and worthy of being widely applied in clinic.
