Consultation-liaison psychiatry service in general hospitals

Objective: To investigate the consultation-liaison psychiatry service in general hospitals in Anqing city.Methods: The records of psychiatry consultation during the past two years in 4 general hospitals in Anqing city were collected and compared with those of hospitals having its own psychology department in the developed area(Guangzhou city,Suzhou city,Wuhan city,Changsha city).Results: There was significant difference in the rate of psychiatry consultation between the hospitals in the developed and Anqing city(P<0.005).Significant difference was also found in the distribution of departments resorting to psychiatry service and re-diagnosis after consultation between the two areas(P<0.01).Conclusions: Consultation-liaison psychiatry service in general hospitals is poverty in the undeveloped area and more attention should be directed to the construction of such service
