Trepanation plus drainage for treatment of chronic subdural hematoma:an analysis of 58 cases

Objective:To explore the clinical effect of trephination plus drainage on chronic subdural hematoma.Methods:The clinical data of 58 cases of chronic subdural hematoma treated with trephination plus drainage were analyzed retrospectively.Results:Fifty-seven cases were treated with trephination plus drainage,only 1 case that had separate subdural hematoma was converted to craniotomy to remove the hematoma.All the cases were recovered well and no one died.Conclusions:Trephination plus drainage is an effective,safe and reliable procedure for treatment of chronic subdural hematoma.It is worth popularizing in primary hospitals.
