Abstract
Objective:To explore the factors influencing the survival and long-term prognosis of patients having undergone surgical operation for lung sarcomatoid carcinoma. Methods:The clinical data of 22 cases who had received surgical treatment for lung sarcomatoid carcinoma were retrospectively reviewed. The potential prognostic factors were analyzed by COX' s proportional hazard regression model. Results:The overall 1,3 and 5-year survival rates were 63.6%,18.2% and 4.5%,respectively.p-TNM stage and N status were valued as prognostic factors in COX univariate analysis(P 0.05).Age,p-TNM stage and type of pathology were identified as independent prognostic factors by COX multivariate analysis (P 0.01).Conclusions:There is no effective therapy for lung sarcomatoid carcinoma and the 5-year survival rate is quite low.Age,p-TNM stage and type of pathology are the crucial prognostic factors for patients with lung sarcomatoid carcinoma.
