Repairing skull defects by individually modeled titanium mesh with multipoint molding: a report of 16 cases

    • Objective: To investigate the clinical effect about multipoint forming technology of titanium mesh for individual shaping for repairing skull defects. Methods: Shaping titanium meshes were properly made with multipoint forming technology assisted by computer for the 16 patients with defected skull.Shaping workload during operation, anesthesia time, operating time and molding quality were observed, and satisfaction degrees with the operations were investigated. Results: The shaping workload, anesthesia time and operating time were significantly decreased, and 93.7% patients were satisfied with the operation. Conclusions: The clinical effect about titanium meshes shaped by multipoint forming technology for repairing skull defects is perfect, and worthy of clinical application.
