Surgical intervention for acute deep venous thrombosis in the lower extremity

Abstract
Objective: To summarize the experiences in surgical treatment of acute deep venous thrombosis(DVT) in the lower extremities.Methods: Sixty-six cases of acute DVT underwent femoral venotomy and thrombectomy,and the cases accompanied with left iliac venous stenosis were performed iliac venous balloon dilatation and stent placement at the same time.Results: The operation was successful in all the cases.The clinical symptoms disappeared 3 days after operation.Complete subsidence of swelling was observed in 56 cases and partial subsidence in 10 cases when discharged.Conclusions: Surgery combined with comprehensive therapies is effective on acute DVT in the lower extremities.
