The related study between methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene polymorphism and type 2 diabetes mellitus

    • Objective: To examine the relationship between methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR) gene C677T and A1298C polymorphisms and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM). Methods: MTHFR gene C677T and A1298C polymorphic sites were assayed in 106 T2DM and 109 healthy subjects by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism, and their allele frequency and genotype were statistically analyzed. Results: There was no statistical significance in allele frequency and genotype of MTHFR gene C677T and A1298C between the patients and healthy subjects(P > 0. 05), and no synergistic reaction between the MTHFR C677T andA1298C polymorphisms on the risk of T2DM(P > 0. 05). Conclusions: MTHFR gene C677T and A1298C polymorphism is not a risk facObjective: Tor for patients with type 2 diabetes.
