Analysis and determination of cardiac troponin I in the serum of neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy

Objective: To evaluate the role of cardiac troponin I(cTnI) in determining the injury of cardiac muscle of the neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).Methods: The creatine kinase isoenzyme(CK-MB) and cTnI in the serum of 19 neonates with HIE were detected.Results: The levels of cTnI in the serum of the neonates with HIE were higher than normal neonates and there was marked different among the neonates with light,moderate and severe HIE (P<0.01).The levels of CK-MB had no significant difference in the serum of the neonates with light,moderate and severe HIE(P>0.05).Conclusions: The level of cTnI in serum is of great value in the diagnosis of the myocardial injury of neonates with HIE.
