Endoscopic argon plasma coagulation for treatment of multiple polyps: report of 44 cases

Objective: To observe the effect and safety of argon plasma coagulation(APC) under endoscope in treatment of multiple polyps of the large intestine.Methods: The wide outsole and applanate polyp in 44 cases of multiple polyps of the large intestine was removed by APC under endoscope using APC 300 endoscope agron scalpel.The wide outsole and applanate polyp with a diameter of 0.2-0.5 cm was treated by APC only;the pedunculated,semipedunculated as well as the wide and big outsole polyps with a diameter of 0.6-2.0 cm were excised with high-frequency electrocision;and after the therapy,these patients received APC for hemostasis.Results: All the patients were cured.Conclusions: Endoscopic APC is safe and effective for treatment of multiple polyps of the large intestine with the advantages of few complications and easy operation.It is the first choice for management of multiple sessile polyps of the large intestine.
