Relationship between cerebral infarction and levels of blood lipids, blood glucose and uric acid

    • Objective: To explore the relationship between cerebral infarction (CI) and the levels of blood lipids, blood glucose and serum uric acid. Methods: Seven indices of serum lipids and blood glucose (GLU), serum uric acid (UA) in 60 patients with CI (patient group) and 30 cases without CI (control group) were measured and compared. Results: The serum levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), apolipoprotein B (ApoB), lipoprotein (a) Lp (a), GLU were obviously higher in the cerebral infarction group than those in the control group (P<0.05-P<0.001), but apolipoprotein A1 (Apo A1) was significantly lower (P<0.001).There was no significant difference in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and UA levels between cerebral infarction group and control group (P>0.05).Conclusions: The results suggest that the higher levels of TC, TG, LDL, ApoB, Lp (a), GLU and lower levels of ApoA1 are related to CI to a certain extent, which indicates that it is necessary to actively control and prevent the hyperlipidemia and the high blood glucose.
