Effect of positive end-expiratory pressure on central venous pressure of the patients undergoing mechanical ventilation

    • Objective: To observe the effect of positive end-expiratory pressure(PEEP) on central venous pressure(CVP) of patients undergoing mechanical ventilation. Methods: CVP of 10 patients with respiratory failure undergoing mechanical ventilation at different levels of PEEP(0~14 cmH2O) were monitored. Results: There were increases of CVP accompanied with PEEP increment, and there was a significant positive correlation between CVP and PEEP.Conclusions: PEEP and CVP is significantly correlated.
