Abstract
Objective: To improve the diagnosis and treatment of primary duodenal neoplasms.Methods: The records of 16 patients with primary neoplasms of the duodenum were confirmed by pathology during 1999-2006.The relationship between pathologic characteristics and clinical symptoms,diagnosis and therapy were reviewed.Results: Eight cases underwent pancreatodenectomy:4 cases survived 3 years,2 cases survived 5 years;2 cases underwent segmental duodenectomy,1 survived 3 years and 1 survived 2 years;6 cases underwent palliative surgery;died 3-11 months after operation.Two cases who recieved biopsy died in six months after operation.Conclusions: The understanding of duodenal neoplasms is the key factor for early diagnosis.The appropriate exaninations are necessary for suspected patients.Once the diagnosis is confirmed,the result of surgical treatment is improved.
