Abstract
Objective: To detect the subchronic toxicity of mice fed with di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate(DEHP).Methods: One hundred of Kunming mice were used to exposed to DEHP by water for 60 days. The mice were divided into five groups(with DEHP for 250 mg/L,500 mg/L,1 000 mg/L,2 000 mg/L and a control group),every group including 10 male and 10 female mice. The mice were weighed every 10 days and their behavior were observed. After 60 days, the mice were killed and the organ index weight were calculated and pathological changes were examined. Results: The male and female mice exposed to different doses of DEHP for 60 days were found to have the change of lower body weight gain, even the change of decrease in body weight(compared with the control group P<0.05-P<0.01).Toxic signs consist of the increase in liver, kidney, lung and heart organ index but decrease in teste organ index(compared with the control group P<0.05-P<0.01).At the same time, the organs were injured in different degree when pathological examination was made. Conclusions: DEHP has toxicity to creature and possibly has potential hazard on human being.
