The application value of the "SCAN" structured nursing model in improving compliance and efficacy of afterimage therapy in children with eccentric fixation amblyopia

    • Objective To construct and validate a "SCAN" structured nursing model for children with eccentric fixation amblyopia, and evaluate its role in improving treatment compliance and clinical efficacy of afterimage comprehensive therapy.
Methods A before-and-after intervention design was adopted, 50 children with eccentric fixation amblyopia who received afterimage comprehensive therapy were selected. The children received conventional afterimage therapy for 2 months. The baseline period was set at the end of the second month, followed by a uniform implementation of the "SCAN" structured nursing model intervention for a period of 6 months. The model consisted of four structured components: supportive assessment (S), systematic compliance management (C), active family empowerment (A) and networked continuous care (N). Before and after the intervention, the treatment attendance rate, lens wearing compliance rate, occlusion training completion rate, parental knowledge acquisition, nursing satisfaction and short-term treatment response rate were assessed.
Results After the intervention, both the treatment compliance indicators of children and evaluations of parents were significantly improved compared with those before the intervention (P < 0.01). The score of parents' knowledge mastery significantly increased (P < 0.01). After a total treatment period of 8 months, the positive response rate of short-term treatment was 70.0%.
Conclusions The "SCAN" structured nursing model can effectively enhance the treatment compliance and family management abilities of children with eccentric fixation amblyopia, and a positive short-term clinical response trend is observed.
