Clinical analysis of 17 cases of pontine hemorrhage

Objective: To explore the etiological factors,clinical features and prognosis of pontine hemorrhage.Methods: The clinidal data of 17 cases of pontine hemorrhage treated in our hospital in past 3 years were analyzed retrospectively.Results: Pontine hemorrhage was commonly observed in the elderely patients accompanied with hypertension.The disease developed rapidly,and the prognosis was usually poor when the hemorrhage volume was more than 10 ml.Eleven of the 17 patients survived.Conclusions: The prognosis of pontine hemorrhage depends on early diagnosis and proper treatment,and it is closely related to the volume of hemorrhage.
