The perioperative care of Nuss correction in pectus excavatum patients

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the nursing methods for funnel chest patients who were underwent the Nuss surgery procedure. Methods: Twenty-nine patients with funnel chest were given psychological perioperative nursing,respiratory tract preparation,nutritional support,close observation after operation,respiratory management,abdominal distention and pain management and nursing discharge missions. Results: Plate shifting was occurred in one patient earlier after operation,and the other twenty-eight patients were recovered well. Plate shifting was occurred in one patient after two months, the rest of orthopedic patients were achieved the desired effect. Conclusions: Preoperative and postoperative care should be strengthened for patients with pectus excavatum, in particular, hospital mission is essential to prevent the complication of plate shifting.
