Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effect of autolougous auricular concha cartilage graft in the repairation of cleft lip nasal deformity. Methods: The misplaced orbicularis muscle was restored, the ipsilateral alar cartilage was released thoroughly and was suspended to a level slightly higher the opposite side. Comparing this deformed side to the healthy corresponding parts, the defect volume of the 12 cases can be measured and repaired using autolougous auricular concha cartilage graft. Results: Twelve cases of cleft lip nasal deformities were corrected with satisfactory appearance. The nasal tip height and shape, the size of nostril in both sides were almost symmetrical. The columella was lengthened, the flat nose and nasal alar collapse were corrected satisfactorily. The donor site had no complications and the operated ear had no resultant deformities. The long-term result was satisfactory. Conclusions: Autolougous auricular concha cartilage transplant was a valuable method to repairing the cleft lip nasal deformity with the advantages of satisfactory nasal outcome, little operative injury, easy viability of cartilage, convenient harvest and no rejection.
