Treatment of chylothorax complicated in radical operation for lung cancer: Report of 11 cases

Objective: To summarize the treatment of chylothorax complicated in radical operation for lung cancer.Methods: Eleven cases of chylothorax complicated in radical operation for lung cancer were diagnosed and confirmed by laboratory examination.Nine cases were given conservative treatment and 2 cases were performed surgical operation.Results: All the cases were cured.Two cases demonstrated pneumoserothorax,one case diabetes mellitus and one case hypertension.No chylothorax recurred during the 6-24 months follow-up.One case died from tardive bronchopleural fistula half a year later.Conclusions: The chylothorax complicated in radical operation for lung cancer can be cured by prompt diagnosis and treatment.
