Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical and X-ray features of cytomegalovirus pneumonia in infants. Methods: Clinical and X-ray features of 23 infants with cytomegalovirus pneumonia confirmed by enzymeimmunity-spot technique were observed. Results: Infants were easily affected by the disease with a peak incidence at approximately 3 months of age.The main clinical manifestations were paroxysmal wheezy cough and wheezes during expiratory phase of breathing, accompanied by liver damage!and anemia;the chest roentgenographic findings revealed interstitial pneumonia, ill defined patches, superinflation of the lungs and hilus enlargement;there might be 1 to 4 pathological types existing in one patient. Conclusions: The characteristic of infant cytomegalovirus pneumonia is bronchiolitis accompanied with liver damage and anemia. The chest roentgenographic findings reveal a variety of pathological changes and display no specific features,so definite diagnosis relies on etiology.
