The application of total resection of lesser curvature in radical treatment of distal gastric carcinoma

Objective:To explore the clinical values of total resection of lesser curvature in the radical treatment of distal gastric carcinoma.Methods:A retrospective review was performed in 32 patients of distal advanced gastric carcinoma undergoing total resection of lesser curvature.Analyzing the postoperative complications,survival rates after operation,and the tumor invasion in resection margin of lesser curvature.Results:No one died in the 32 case of total resection of lesser curvature.The remain tumor invasion in resection margin of total resection of lesser curvature is 15.6% (5/32).The tumor invasion in lymph nodes of No1 is 21.9%.One,two and three year survival rates after operation were 90.6% and 78.1% and 65.6%,respectively.Conclusions:The total resection of lesser curvature performed in radical surgery of distal gastric carcinoma can decrease tumor recurrence,prevent tumor invasion in resection margin,increase the resection rate,and prolong the survivals after operation.
