Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the security and efficacy of topical anesthesia in small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract extraction. Methods:Small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract extraction and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation were performed in 53 eyes of 45 patients under topical anesthesia with Benoxil;the anesthetic effects and surgical complications were observed. Results:The operation was carried out successfully in 52 eyes, with no additional anesthesia;only 1 eye was applied sub-tenon's capsule anesthesia for suture fixation of IOL.Conclusions:Topical anesthesia with Benoxil is a safe and reliable method for cataract surgery.
