Abstract
Objective: To sum up the clinical experience in treatment of femoral shaft fractures with a reamed intramedullary interlocking nail. Methods: Twenty patients with femoral shaft fractures were treated with a reamed intramedullary interlocking nail.Limited open reduction and fixation of reamed intramedullary interlocking nail were performed. Results: Eighteen cases were followed up for more than 6 months, and all healed up well.Broken nail occurred in one case, delayed union in one case, and angular malunion in one case. Conclusions: The use of a reamed intramedullary interlocking nail and limited open reduction is successful in the treatment of femoral shaft fracture, which is benificial to the healing of the fracture and early rehabi1itation exercise. The internal fixation is an ideal method in the treatment of femoral shaft fracture.
