Effects of high does intravenous immunoglobulin for treatment of idiopathic thrombopenic purpura

Objective: To study the efficacy and mechanism of high does intravenous immunoglobulin(HDIVIG) in therapeutic of idiopathic thrombopenic purpura(ITP).Methods: Forty eight cases of ITP were divided into therapeutic group and control group according to the time of admission to the hospital.They were all given hemostatic and adrenal cortex hormone.The therapeutic group was administered HDIVIG 0.4 g·kg^-1·d^-1 for five days continously.Results: The number of blood platelet of 76.19% cases in the treatment group rose to the normal level on the 5th day of therapeutic.The Blood platelet count of the therapeutic group rose more rapidly comparing with the control group(P<0.01).Conclusions: Treatment of ITP with HDIVIG can raise the number of blood platelet quickly and shorten the hospital stay.Joint usage of adrenal contex hormone can reduce recurrence.
