Arthroscopic meniscus plasty for discoid lateral meniscus of knee joint in adolescents

Objective: To explore the efficacy of discoid meniscus plasty under arthroscope on lateral cartilage of the knee joint in adolescents.Methods: Fifteen young patients with discoid meniscus injury of the knee joint underwent arthroscopic meniscus plasty,and all the injuries were located in lateral discoid meniscus.Results: All the cases were followed up for more than one year.According to Ikeuchi criteria,the results were excellent in 11 cases,good in 3 cases and fair in 1 case;the excellence rate was 93.33%.Conclusions: Arthroscopic meniscus plasty is an ideal method for treatment of discoid meniscus injury in adolescents.It is recommended that patients with discoid menisci injury should be treated by reshaping a stable meniscus to maintain its physiological function.
